MAV/PLVN Public Libraries Summit
Mon, 30/11/2009 - 11:15 — President150 local government and public library reps attended the MAV/PLVN Public Library summit held at the Windsor Hotel on Friday 20TH November. Following opening remarks by the MAV President, Cr Bill McArthur, the Minister for Local Government talked about the funding realities into the future, the MAC vision was presented by Joanne Duncan, MAC Chair. Frank McGuire talked about the philosophy behind the Hume Global learning Village concept (Attitude, employment and opportunity).Other presentations included the Great Public library Tour, current initiatives and statewide projects already underway in Victoria. Central Highlands RLC argued the case strongly for a better deal from the State Government.

Last Tuesday night I attended the Dinner formally launching the commencement of the Shared Leadership Program at the Yarra Valley Conference Centre. The training is being conducted in the fire ravaged area of Dixons Creek and has the added bonus of contributing to the sustainability of a business effected by the devastating Black Saturday fires.
